Koyo Thermo Systems, a leading manufacturer of furnaces and ovens for the semiconductor, solar and LCD industry, located in Japan announces the sales launch of a new continuous horizontal tube furnace for POCl3 doping of silicon wafers and crystalline solar cells. Until now phosphorous doping of solar cells had to be done in a non-continuous process in a horizontal tube furnace or in a special conveyor furnace. The horizontal furnaces need a large footprint and much time for loading and unloading is used. On the other hand, the conveyor furnaces cannot work with doping gas. Additional process steps like printing a doping paste on the wafers and removing it after thermal treatment are necessary.
As the first furnace manufacturer, now Koyo Thermo Systems merged the benefits of both systems and developed a continuous tube furnace which can use POCl3 doping, has a low foot print, high throughput, low energy consumption and reasonable price. Today Koyo Thermo Systems presented this brand new furnace at the solar exhibition PVJapan 2010 in Yokohama. Koyo expects, that this new model will be a break through in doping technology. This furnace can help to reduce production costs of crystalline solar cells further and this is a key issue in the development of alternative energies and it can be used also for doping of semiconductor wafers in IC manufacturing. Koyo had done pioneering work for doping solar cells before already. A modified conveyor furnace with wire transportation system had been developed, which could offer an improved temperature uniformity during doping and same time reduce energy consumption, compared to the conventional mesh belt transportation furnace.
Koyo Thermo Systems is a subsidiary for JTEKT, a large, stock listed company belonging to Toyota Motors group. Koyo produces a wide range of furnaces and RTP systems and was one of the first companies, introducing vertical furnaces to the semiconductor industry. This company is represented in Europe by Crystec Technology Trading GmbH.

The companies of Neutronix-Quintel Inc. and Crystec Technology Trading GmbH announce the immediate start of their cooperation for selling and servicing mask aligners in Europe. "The business for semiconductor equipment started to pick up again and we wanted to use this opportunity in order to reinforce our European sales and service organization." said Brett Arnold, president of Neutronix-Quintel.
Neutronix-Quintel Inc. founded in 2005 by the merge of Neutronix Inc., a company specializing for over 20years in the refurbishment and customizations of Canon PLA / MPA aligners and Quintel Corporation, a company manufacturing contact/proximity mask aligners for over 30 years. With a combination of over 1000 installations around the world, Neutronix-Quintel is the premiere supplier of mask alignment equipment. Neutronix-Quintel has partnered with Applied Microengineering Ltd., a supplier of Wafer Bonding Equipment to offer customers a complete solution for mask alignment and wafer bonding equipment.
Neutronix recently introduced the new series of mask aligners NXQ8000, which is based on the former NXQ7500 model from which hundreds of systems are installed already, but has many customer driven enhancements and new features. Mask Aligners are the leading tool for the exposure of photo resist layers on wafers and are frequently used for MEMS, LED/OLED, WLP, 3D-IC, Optoelectronics, Power Devices, Compound Semiconductor and Microfluidics/BioMems applications.
Crystec is a well established sales and service company for semiconductor, LCD and photo voltaic equipment. It is headquartered in Altoetting, Germany little bit east of Munich. Dr. Ralph Luedicke, the president of Crystec has long years experience, selling semiconductor equipment in Europe. He personally worked in the past also for General Signal and was at that time responsible for GCA stepper and Ultratech scanner sales. "We had several discussions with Neutronix-Quintel customers and got only very positive feed back." said Dr. Luedicke and continued: "Neutronix-Quintel mask aligners are very reliable systems and require not much maintenance. Performance and customer satisfaction is high and caused by the strong Euro / week USD the prices are very attractive, compared to Suss and EVG equipment.". "We are optimistic to sell many systems in the future." Dr. Luedicke closed. Crystec can also support existing systems by service and spare parts. Crystec's web page is available in several European languages.

The company of JWA, California has decided to become active now also in Europe and start selling machines and equipment as well as factory automation for solar cell and solar module manufacturing. JWA also offers electronic manufacturing services EMS for solar modules. For this purpose JWA signed a contract with Crystec Technologies Trading GmbH, Altoetting, Germany. Crystec will represent JWA in Europe from now on.
The company of JWA is an US company with 3 factories in South Korea, where various equipment is produced for applications in the semiconductor and LCD industry, since some time now also for manufacturing of solar cells and solar modules. Usually, JWA works as an EMS-company (electronic manufacturing services), meaning that machines and machine parts for other equipment manufacturers or also end customers are produced, not using an own brand name. JWA manufactures with own machines also products like touch screens or solar modules and can therefore also sell foundry capacity for those products.
The company of Crystec represents already several parnter companies from Japan, Korea and USA, which all manufacture machines for the semiconductor, LCD and solar industry.
The new cooperation allows both companies, JWA as well as Crystec to expand its activities in the field of photovoltaik, which is considered to be growing fast and attractive in the future.
Koyo Machine Industries, Japanese manufacturer of grinding machines started recently to sell its
centerless grinding machines and its surface grinding machines through its European sales and service partner
Crystec Technology Trading GmbH. Koyo is already the market leader for these products in Asia and sold also many grinding
machines to the United States. Koyo Machine Industries is active in Europe since 2000. The cooperation started originally
with special grinding machines for planarization of silicon wafers for the semiconductor industry.
The product range of Koyo Machine Industries includes
centerless round grinding machines for many applications,
double side surface grinding machines with horizontal or vertical spindles,
conventional surface grinding machines with rotary table as well as a set of special grinding machines.
Koyo has an own manufacturing center for spindles.
Now the economic crisis should be used to develop new markets and Crystec hired totally 4 new engineers to promote the grinding machine
sales in Europe. These products have a long tradition in Japan already. Originally, Koyo was started to develop and produce
centerless grinding machines and surface grinding machines for the manufacturing of bearings for its mother company.
Koyo is a 100% subsidiary of JTEKT (founded as a merge of Koyo Seiko and Toyoda), a company listed at Tokyo Stock Exchange.
Largest single owner of JTEKT is Toyota Motors.
Dr. Ralph Luedicke, president of Crystec is optimistic to develop the new business at this time. The lower capacity of the machine
manufacturers gives them more time to support new activities. This is a situation that has to be used to prepare for the future.
Koyo Thermo Systems, Japanese furnace manufacturer started recently to sell its
industrial furnaces and vacuum furnaces for the thermal treatment of steal and aluminium as well as
debindering and sintering furnaces for the ceramic industry through
its European sales and service partner Crystec Technology Trading GmbH.
Koyo Thermo System is already active in Europe since 1995.
Until now, mainly semiconductor furnaces, furnaces for the LCD industry,
rapid thermal processing systems (RTP),
conveyor furnaces and
box ovens for the electronic industry have been sold.
Koyo manufactures also furnaces for the solar industry, for doping silicon, using
POCl3 gas doping in
horizontal furnaces as well as special furnaces for thin film solar cells based on CdTe or
CIGS (copper indium gallium sulphide / selenide) technology.
Now the economic crisis should be used to develop new markets and Crystec hired totally 4 new engineers to promote the industrial furnaces
in Europe. These products have a long tradition in Japan already. Originally, Koyo was started based on those products.
