The protection of the intellectual property of our customers
JWA knows, how important it is to protect the intellectual property of our customers. This is one key to our successful business in electronic manufacturing services.
Since over 20 years, JWA is working in outsourcing and electronic manufacturing services (EMS) and has a very good reputation in the industry. JWA never had an IP conflict.
JWA took following measures in order to make sure, that our customers do not run any risk in loosing know how:
- JWA is an American company with headquarters in California. US patent and IP law is applicable, regardless of where the actual work is performed.
- All contracts are completed with a U.S.-based entity and it becomes JWA’s responsibility to manage all work done on that contract, including in Korea.
- Any dispute, arbitration, or other legal hearing is conducted in California.
- We sign a non-disclosure agreement with our customers and all suppliers.
- We also usually enter contracts that have specific terms prohibiting us from selling anything (system, spare parts, or components)
directly to anyone other than the OEM. It is not allowed to sell directly to your end customers.
- Any intellectual property IP that we create during the course of a contract belongs to the OEM.
- JWA trains its staff regularly in industrial ethics behavior and has put several specific internal employee programs in place to discourage IP leakage of any kind.
- In our Korean operations we use a restricted document control procedure to protect customer’s IP and identity.
In some cases, this also means that we use both dedicated staff and MFG areas within our plants to protect our customers and further
limit any cross contamination of information with potential competitors.
